Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Activate the Yeast

  • In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar.
  • Over the mixure sprinkle yeast and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Mix the Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, softened butter, and salt.
  • Add the activated yeast mixture and knead until a soft dough forms.

Rise and Double

  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Shape the Rolls

  • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions.
  • Put them on a baking sheet while shaping each portion into a ball, lined with parchment paper.

Second Rise

  • Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes.

Preheat and Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • For up to 15-20 minutes bake the rolls.

  • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
