Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups, and spoons
  • Knife and Cutting board
  • Peeler
  • Mixing spoon or spatula
  • Pastry blender or fork
  • Oven

Ingredients

For the Graham Cracker Crust

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

For the Apple Filling

  • 4-5 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Streusel Topping

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar for the crust. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of the pie dish to form the crust.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, gently toss together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and fresh lemon juice to create the flavorful filling. Toss until the apples are coated evenly.
  • Pour the apple filling into the prepared crust and spread it evenly.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter for the streusel topping. Using a pastry blender or a fork, incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture reaches a crumbly texture, resembling coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle the streusel topping over the apple filling.
  • Set the pie dish on a baking sheet and bake it in the preheated oven for approximately 40 to 45 minutes, or until the crust turns a glorious golden brown and the apples become tender.
  • After baking, take the pie out of the oven and allow it to cool for a minimum of 30 minutes before serving. This resting time ensures that the flavors settle and the pie achieves the perfect texture.
