- 2 cups warm water
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 6 cups bread flour
Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes or until the yeast is activated and becomes foamy.
Add salt, vegetable oil, and bread flour to the bowl. Mix all ingredients until the dough is formed.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
After placing the dough in a greased bowl use a towel to cover it. Let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until the dough doubles in size.
Punch down the dough and divide it into two parts. Shape the dough into two loaves and place them in greased loaf pans.
Cover the pans with a towel and let the dough rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the loaves with water or beaten egg to get a shiny crust.
Bake the loaves for 30-35 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Remove the bread from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
