Ingredients
2 cups of corn masa
1 cup of coconut milk
1/2 cup of achiote oil
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of water (adjust as needed for consistency)
Instructions
Prepare the Masa
In a large mixing bowl, combine corn masa, coconut milk, achiote oil, and salt.
Gradually add water while stirring to achieve a smooth, pliable consistency.
Shape the Guanimos
Take a portion of the masa and place it on a piece of parchment paper.
Shape it into a rectangle or oval and fold the parchment to encase the masa securely.
Steam the Guanimos
If using banana leaves, lay them flat and place the masa-filled parchment on top.
Steam the Guanimos for approximately 30-40 minutes or until firm and cooked through.
