Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, diced
  • ½ cup cold water
  • Filling of your choice (cheese, meat, vegetables, etc.)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Blend the cold butter into the mixture until it takes on the texture of coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add cold water and knead until a dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Flatten the dough on a floured surface and create circular shapes by cutting.
  • Place a spoonful of filling on each circle, fold it in half, and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  • Arrange pastechis on a baking sheet and brush with egg wash.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
