Ingredients

  • 4 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough or whole wheat work well)
  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese (or any cheese of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your non-stick frying pan or griddle over medium heat.
  • In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried basil. Mix well until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
  • Take two slices of bread and spread the seasoned butter on one side of each slice.
  • Place the buttered side of each bread slice down on the pan or griddle.
  • Layer two slices of cheese on top of each bread slice.
  • Cover the pan with a lid and let the sandwich cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom slice of bread turns golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
  • Gently turn over the sandwich using a spatula or tongs.
  • Cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Remove the grilled cheese from the pan and let it cool for a minute.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining two slices of bread and cheese.
  • Slice each grilled cheese diagonally, creating two triangles.
